Parties promise to work for better infrastructure
Bangalore: Leaders of prominent political parties on Friday promised that their election manifestos would give importance to infrastructure development, besides solving the traffic problems of the city.
Congress leader C.K. Jaffer Sharief said the party’s manifesto was being prepared and it would spell out the perspective of next 20 to 30 years for Bangalore and the State.

Now Jaffer Sharief wants to be Karnataka CM
Former Union minister C.K. Jaffer Sharief is the latest addition to the growing list of Chief Ministerial aspirants among Congress leaders in Karnataka.
Speaking to media persons during a ‘meet the press programme’ here on Tuesday, he said if luck favours him, then he will occupy the Chief Minister’s gaddi. “So far, no Dalit or leader of minorities’ has become the Chief Minister. I have not contested this time. If luck favours me, then I am ready to become the Chief Minister. In our party PM , Dr Manmohan Singh, is a lucky person. Despite losing an election, he became the Prime Minister for two consecutive terms. Therefore, if I am destined to become the Chief Minister, I will.”

New Delhi: Senior Congress leaders feel that Karnataka PCC chief Dr G. Parameshwar should be inducted in the state cabinet as it will send out a positive message to the Dalits and backward castes.

Karnataka:Siddaramaiah's cabinet brings political windfall for Dakshina Kannad, Udupi
MANGALORE: The undivided erstwhile Dakshina Kannada district has reaped a political windfall by bagging four ministerial berths in the Siddaramaiah government.
While three are ministers of Cabinet rank, the fourth is a minister of the state in the form of K Abhayachandra Jain, fourth-time MLA from Mulki, Moodbidri. B Ramanath Rai, sixth-term MLA from Bantwal and UT Khader, third-term MLA from Mangalore, have expectedly made it as cabinet ministers.
Khader attributed his elevation to the well wishers, and the electorate in general and the party workers in particular. "It was on everyone's minds and wishes that I become a minister this time even as the party announced me as its candidate for Mangalore constituency," he said, thanking party leaders Oscar Fernandes, Rahman Khan, CK Jaffer Sharief, CM Ibrahim and B Janardhan Poojary. "I will reach out to the people with their blessings," he said.

Karnataka: S.M. Krishna Skips Cong Manifesto Release Bangalore | Apr 24, 2013
Senior Congress leader S M Krishna, largely seen to have been ignored in the candidates selection process for the May five Assembly elections in Karnataka, skipped the manifesto-release event of the party today.
In fact, the former Chief Minister, who led the party government between 1999-2004 after a landslide victory, was conspicuous by his absence, as party leaders who mattered were all there.
Union Ministers Mallikarjuna Kharge, M Veerappa Moily, Rahman Khan, K H Muniyappa (all from the State) and senior Congress leaders Ambika Soni and Oscar Fernandes, former Chief Minister N Dharam Singh, besides KPCC President G Parameshwara and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, Siddaramaiah, were among those present at the manifesto-release event.

Sharief wants to contest LS polls from Bangalore Central
Bangalore: April 23, 2013 DH News Service Senior Congress leader and former railway minister C K Jaffer Sharief on Tuesday said he was keen on contesting the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from the Bangalore Central constituency.
During an interaction with the media here, Sharief said he would fight the Lok Sabha elections only if the party fielded him from the Bangalore Central constituency.
The octogenarian leader said that during the 2009 general elections, senior leaders from the State had requested Congress president Sonia Gandhi to give him a ticket from Bangalore Central, instead of Bangalore North, where was eventually defeated by D B Chandre Gowda of the BJP.
“All the senior leaders admitted to the folly of giving me the ticket from Bangalore North. But, sometimes things do not work out as you expect,” he said.

Cong leaders pitch for Parmeshwar inclusion
Senior Congress leaders view that the Karnataka PCC chief G. Parmeshwar should be inducted into the state Cabinet as it would send out a positive message to the backward castes. Chief minister Siddaramaiah is coming to the national capital expectedly on Wednes-day, to finalise his Cabinet team.

Bansal cannot be blamed for Railway Ministry's appointments scam: C.K. Jaffer Sharief
Bangalore, May 7 (ANI): Former union railway minister C.K.Jaffer Sharief on Tuesday said that incumbent Railway Minister Pawan Bansal cannot be blamed for the latest appointments scam dogging his ministry, as he had no direct role to play in it.
Interacting with media here, he said: " The appointment of an officer has nothing to do with the minister in any ministry. The Cabinet Committee of Appointment appoints the officers. The railway minister cannot act on his own," Jaffer Sharief said.
"The allegations are wrong. Let the investigative agencies look into it," he added.
